Playing Words of Fado
Playing Words of Fado is an affectionate journey through the song of saudade and portugalidade par excellence — Fado.
It highlights the musicality of the poetry behind this uniquely Portuguese cultural phenomenon, which its great masters so masterfully fused.
The concept unfolds words and music through original arrangements for classical guitar by composer Nuno Peixoto de Pinho, inviting us — in a fast-paced, ever-changing world — to slow down and truly experience the singular poetic and sonic landscapes of Fado.
The project comprises three main actions:
- The recording and digital release of the pieces on streaming platforms;
- The publication of the sheet music of the arrangements for Classical Guitar;
- A live performance in the form of a commented and narrated concert, featuring artificial intelligence to create imaginary dialogues.
Playing Words of Fado is, in essence, a tribute to the Portuguese language and its communities, to poetry and poets, to Fado, and, naturally, to its eternal diva, Amália Rodrigues.
